History of the company Fassbender Tenten

Learn how the company has developed Fassbender Tenten has developed over the last four centuries and from a generation of carpenters became what is now Bonn's largest building materials trading company and certainly one of the most exciting employers in the Bonn area.

since 1620

the ancestors of the Faßbender family were carpenters in an uninterrupted succession of generations, i.e. for more than twelve generations. Almost four centuries of building tradition.
1778
The master Johannes Faßbender, the great-great-great-great-grandfather of Paul Faßbender, built Alfter one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in Germany. The magazine “Schöner Wohnen” named the house “House of the Year” in 1993.

1931

A lottery win of 10,000 Reichsmarks was the starting capital for Paul Faßbender’s parents to build a house in an old barn in Holzgasse in Alfter to open a wood and building materials wholesale business.

1949

son Paul Faßbender joined the company.
1971
he bought the land in Alfter -Oedekoven, the current headquarters of the group. Paul Faßbender founded the cooperation “Moderner Baubedarf – Mobau” (today Eurobaustoff) with other building material dealers

1981

Opening of the first OBI Construction and DIY market in Alfter -Oedekoven

1992

Thomas Faßbender, the son of Paul and Margret Faßbender, joined the company.

1992

The company Faßbender acquired the company Wilhelm Tenten , the building materials business founded in 1860 in Bonn . The childless couple Tenten brought his fortune into the Tenten Foundation. Bonn's largest private foundation currently supports between 500 and 600 Bonn citizens annually. Paul Faßbender has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1998.
