Do-it-yourself A beautiful and practical country house kennel for your four-legged friend
A nice big kennel is fun for every dog - because here he will find a playground, a den and a retreat from where he can keep an eye on his master and his territory.
However, since ready-made kennels from the trade are often very expensive, many dog owners decide to build the outdoor domicile for their four-legged friends themselves.
Our kennel is suitable for small or medium-sized dog breeds and consists of OSB panels that are connected with stainless steel screws. You can find out how to build this great dog house here. You will see: it is very easy and your four-legged friend will be happy!
And that's how it's done!
Required tools: cordless screwdriver, jigsaw, 6+12 mm drill, angle, hammer, miter box, precision saw
And here are the individual steps:
1. Screw the base plate to the pallet using 3.5 x 30 mm screws.
2. Now use the jigsaw to cut off all the wood that protrudes from the base plate
3. Now draw the slopes on the back wall. Here it is recommended to draw a 45° angle.
4. Now cut out the back panel. Here it is advisable to fasten a straight board to guide the jigsaw using screw clamps.
6. To cut out the front, repeat step 4
7. Now record the entrance. Keep a distance of 17 cm from the floor. The distance of the door from the sides is 16.4 cm and has a height of 60 cm.
8. Pre-drill in the corners with a 12 mm wood drill bit. This makes it easier for you to dig into the panel with the jigsaw.
9. Now cut the frame wood 34 x 34 mm to 4 x 50 cm. A miter saw is helpful here, or a miter box with a precision saw.
10. Now pre-drill the frame wood with a 6 mm drill bit. Note that the drill holes must be offset on the same piece of wood so that the screws do not meet.
11. Now use the 5 x 50 mm screws to screw on the corner strips on the front and back (outer edge flush). Keep a distance of 16 cm (lower edge front and back).
12. Now place the front and one side part on the pallet with the base plate screwed on. Now connect the two parts with 5 x 50mm screws through the cornice. Now repeat this in step 12, please also on the other corners.
13. Now cut the corner strips 28 x 28 x 2400 mm for the outside corners. Here it is advisable to stop the bar at the point, mark it and only then cut it with the miter box. Repeat the step at the other corners as well.
14. Now fasten the angle bars with the wire pins 1 x 15 mm
15. Now cut the angle bar 18 x 45 x 2400 mm for the entrance. Fasten these as well with the wire pins 1 x 15 mm.
16. Now pre-drill the boards for the roof. Keep a roof overhang of 3 cm at the back. The drill holes are measured at 3.9 cm and 126.1 cm from the end of the board, respectively.
17. Now fasten the boards with the 5 x 75 mm screws. Ideally, start here from the top of the roof.
