Employees are a company’s most valuable asset – and so is Faßbender Tenten

A sunny late summer afternoon. On the roof garden of Faßbender's administrative headquarters Tenten Two women are standing there smoking, and the sales director, Dr. Klaus Helnerus, walks by. They smile at each other and exchange a few words. It's these small gestures that show that people from different hierarchies within a company are meeting on equal terms.
"Yes, that's really something special for us: our employees aren't just numbers, they're people with talent," explains Dr. Helnerus. “We value each and every one of our 380 employees. We take all of our colleagues, with their very personal stories and skills, extremely seriously!” Good proof of this is that when the managing director took office two years ago, he didn’t first explore the company statistics in the first two months, but instead had one-on-one talks with each individual employee in order to to get to know him or her.
After all, it is precisely these people, alongside the owners, managing directors and department heads, who shape the image of Faßbender Tenten represent. "We have a development plan here aimed at employees with leadership ambitions," explains Dr. Helnerus. As part of this development, each of these employees must also take on a field sales role at some point – "although we don't have a sales force. This role is construction and property consulting," the managing director adds with a smile.
Customers are, of course, the focus of this traditional family business. "And that is why customer service is so exceptionally important. We want to win them over to our company and retain them in the long term." Tenten "We bind." All employees learn how to do this in training sessions that are designed to be as exciting as possible. For example, a former boxer and building contractor gives lively, psychologically trained accounts of his interactions with customers. This has an impact and sticks – and is remembered for the next encounter.
The training of young people is also important, "for which we have a member of staff who is exclusively responsible for it," as Dr. Helnerus describes. The trainees and colleagues in the dual study program can turn to her as a direct contact person with all concerns. In cooperation with the European University of Applied Sciences in Brühl, around 6 sales and marketing experts are trained every year. Together with the trainees, you will be the new backbone of the company in a few years.
For more than 90 years, the owner family Faßbender has based their dealings with employees on this humanistic-liberal concept. And their success proves them right.
Of course, the question remains: How does a company with such high standards for itself and its new employees attract the right applicants? "We prefer unsolicited applications!" explains Dr. Klaus Helnerus. "We are looking for people who enjoy working for Faßbender. Tenten We then develop the right position in consultation with them." A sequence that seems unusual. The managing director smiles and then says: "We need people with heart and mind. We'll teach them the rest."
